Early REACH (Raising Educational Access for Children in Harris County) is a pilot program to provide high-quality child care for children ages 0 to 4. Child care is provided at no cost to families so that parent(s) may work or attend school. A Partnership of Harris County, BakerRipley, and United Way of Greater Houston to provide high-quality child care at no cost to eligible families.
About
Early REACH is designed to support families with young children and help childcare providers open new, high-quality classrooms as they recover from the COVID-19 pandemic. Full-day, full-year care is available to eligible infants, toddlers, and preschoolers at no cost in various parts of Harris County.
The program began taking applications from families in June 2023, and the goal is to add space for 800 to 1,000 children by June 2024. Teachers in participating classrooms receive above-average compensation, enhanced training, and additional support.
