Built in 2001, just a few blocks from BakerRipley’s original buildings, Ripley House represents the 116-year legacy that BakerRipley has in Houston’s historic East End. Serving as a central hub for community engagement it hosts lively programs tailored to senior adults and houses BakerRipley Community Schools. As the East End continues to evolve, the Ripley House works to meet the changing needs of its Neighbors while staying true to its roots in the community.

The BakerRipley Ripley House offers many programs and services. If you would like to discover and get connected with the programs and services that can benefit you, there is a Community Resource Specialist onsite for your convenience every day at Ripley House. Our offerings include:
Operating Monday through Friday from 3:30:00pm-6:00pm, After-School Programs at BakerRipley provide a safe, caring environment where children are actively engaged in activities that help them learn and grow.
BakerRipley’s Civic Engagement program has an array of services helping Neighbors learn how to become a
link to civic engagement level 2 if it becomes possible
The Digital Skills program helps you access information and resources on a computer or mobile device. Your confidence and understanding of technology-based skills will set you up for success. To learn more or sign up for Digital Skills classes send us a message.
BakerRipley’s English as a Second Language (ESL) program offers more than just language learning. It equips you with the necessary knowledge and abilities to thrive in the United States and make meaningful contributions to your community. The program caters to learners of all levels of English proficiency, from beginners to advanced.
BakerRipley offers GED Classes that serve as a High School Equivalency (HSE) program, providing educational assistance to Neighbors without a high school diploma. These classes are open to everyone, free of charge. Our GED classes cover a range of subjects including reading, language arts, math, science, and social studies, to help prepare individuals to pass the GED test and achieve their educational goals.
The Immigration and Citizenship program at BakerRipley partners with immigrant communities to support a continuum of legal and social work services that help Neighbors learn, earn, belong and be well—including education and outreach, citizenship classes, legal assistance, social services, and referrals to other BakerRipley services.
BakerRipley’s Senior Health and Wellness Centers are lively, laughter-filled places for community, friendship, and activities that promote physical, mental, and spiritual wellness.
Designed for adults age 60 and older, the program focuses on eight domains of wellness. A free lunch is served every weekday for seniors to enjoy together, thanks to funding from the Harris County Area Agency on Aging.

BakerRipley’s Utility Assistance program is designed to meet your immediate needs by providing financial support for your utilities. We are currently only accepting applications for water bill payment assistance.
Offered at the Ripley House on Mondays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Ripley House offers a wide variety of classes for children and adults. Subjects have included Martial Arts, Jewelry Making, Folkloric Dance, STEM, Cake Decorating, Yoga and more!
The Fall 2023 semester begins September 5 and continues through December 9. Membership is required and space is limited.
Community Center Memberships
BakerRipley Community Centers offer family and individual memberships. Membership provides access to a wide variety of classes and experiences.
$50 per year for ages 0-18
$75 per year for ages 19-59
$35 per year for ages 60+
$150 per year for 2 adults and any children in your household
Facility Rentals
Located in the historic Second Ward, Ripley House offers numerous spaces available for rent, including a large gym/community hall, conference room, classroom, baseball field, and outdoor pavilion.
Free parking, tables, chairs, and guest wifi are included with your rental and members of BakerRipley Community Centers receive a discount when renting any of our facilities. To check available space, dates, and pricing for your gathering, please contact rentals@bakerripley.org
